BIOWAX GHANA LTD, a company committed to reducing post-harvest losses, recently held an interactive training session for tomato traders at Kotokuraba Market in Cape Coast. With the support of the Market Queen Mother and her executive team, the event focused on teaching traders how to use BIOWAX’s natural edible wax to extend the shelf life of tomatoes—one of Ghana’s most perishable crops.
Participants received practical demonstrations on applying the wax, learned about the importance of proper post-harvest handling, and explored the economic benefits of reduced spoilage. The session also encouraged traders to act as brand ambassadors, spreading the innovation to other markets.

The training was well received, with traders expressing excitement about the potential to reduce daily losses and improve the quality of their produce. One trader shared, “We lose a lot of toma-toes every market day. This can help us save money and sell better quality produce.”
In a major step forward, BIOWAX GHANA LTD signed a partnership agreement with the trad-ers to supply its edible wax solution directly to Kotokuraba Market. This ensures consistent ac-cess to the product, empowering the women with tools to protect their income and reduce waste.
The Queen Mother commended the BIOWAX team for supporting the women who are the backbone of local food distribution, many of whom are primary breadwinners for their families. She encouraged widespread adoption of the solution across neighboring markets.
This initiative is part of BIOWAX GHANA LTD’s broader mission to build local partnerships, support livelihoods, and promote sustainable agriculture across Ghana. More trainings and com-munity engagements are planned in the coming months to scale this impact.
Together, we can preserve freshness, protect income, and build a more sustainable future for Ghana’s food systems.
